Stenbithöjden

Stenbithöjden

Stenbithöjden is a nature reserve that offers a beautiful hike through a changeful nature. The hike leads to the vantage point at the top cabin from where the hiker has a sumptuous view of the stunning forests and lakes of Stenbithöjden.

Hiking paths and cabins

The first part of the hiking path of Stenbithöjden runs along footbridges through a flat landscape of bogs and old forest that leads to the cabin Höjdakojan. Höjdakojan serves as a perfect spot to rest or spend the night. The cabin, that contains four beds, can be booked in advance at OKQ8 in Åsele. The one who wants to light a fire without staying the night at the cabin, is advised to bring their own firewood. Please remember to follow the rules regarding fire in the nature reserve.

The hiking path continues uphill beyond Höjdakojan and leads to the top cabin. This part of the hiking path does also run through a landscape of bogs, but has no footbridges. We therefore recommend the hiker to wear waterproof hiking boots. The hike to the top cabin is more challenging, but for the one who continues, an amazing reward awaits. The view back over the hiking path is stunningly beautiful!

Tjusjökojan and Oxtjärnstugan is two other cabins in Stenbithöjden. Book these cabins by contacting Alban Regnoult at 073 – 822 94 82.

Fishing

Many of the lakes in the area has self-producing populations of brown trout. Perch and some pike can also be found. A tip is to visit the lakes in the higher located parts of the nature reserve. Some of the lakes have cabins that are places nearby, there among Tjusjöstugan and Oxtjärnstugan that can be booked by contacting Alban Regnoult at 073 – 822 94 82.
