Twenty kilometers away from Fredrika lies the village Tallsjö. Northwest of the village, on Rangelberget, rests the enormous boulder “Rangelsten”. Rangelsten is a huge erratic boulder, which was placed vertically by the ancient Nordic ice sheet 9000 years ago. The boulder has a height of seven meters and a width of four meters. The top side of the boulder is almost completely flat and is therefore frequently visited for its views.
It is possible to reach Rangelberget by car, but to reach the boulder one has to follow a path by foot. Rangelsten promises a beautiful and fantastic adventure!
On the way up to Rangelsten one can stop and relax by a small waterfall by the name of Sprut´n. The waterfall is located in Abborvattenbäcken, wich connects Abborvattnet and Stenbittjärnen. Here a rest area is located with fireplace areas.
How to get here:
- From Åsele, drive along road 92 towards Umeå.
- At Tallsjö, make a turn towards Abborrvattnet.
- Thereafter, follow the signs towards Rangelsten, Sprut´n and Kojan.
The last part of the road towards Rangelsten and Sprut’n consists of a graveled road with stones and holes. We therefore recommend the use of a higher car with a four-wheel drive.
